Types Of Government : Social Studies

.0 In social studies the class was instructed to learn about the seven types of Government, we needed to find which countries had these Government types (one country for each) and then locate it using the FACKTS mapping skills we learnt in term one.

Bellow is the work done.

Group: - Charlize - Jrae - Safiyya  -

Anarchy

Communism

Democracy

Dictatorship

Monarchy

Oligarchy

Totalitarianism

^ Find information about these Government types. ^

  • Find One Country that fits under these Government

Below is our findings and mapping-

Anarchy; complete and utter freedom of the individuals within the group/country. Federation of Egalitarian Communities is an example of Anarchy, although it’s not a country

Communism: the government controls all and cares for all. The US is a communist country.

Democracy is when the government is run by the elidged people ruled by a majority of people. The United States and Nigerian are examples of Presidential Democracy.

When a government shows/is a Dictatorship form of government it’s characterized by a single leader with little to no tolerance for political pluralism. (Sometimes it has a group of leaders) Countries that have this type of Government are; China, Cuba, Eritrea, Laos, North Korea and Vietnam.

Monarchy is a form of government where there’s one person who leads everything. Examples being The United Kingdom, Belgium, Norway, Japan and Thailand.

Oligarchy is a small group of people having control of a country or organization. South Africa is one of those.

Totalitarianism is when a single party government prohibits freedom within the community. North Korea being one of those countries.
< > Kim Jong-Un : North Korea < > Xi Jinping : China  < Erna Solberg : Norway < > Donald Trump… US < >Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo < >Cyril Ramaphosa

Most are current leaders aside from Donald Trump.

Shark Infested Custard : Health

Shark Infested Custard : even teams with 3 hoops each- possibly more or less depending in how many people in your team and the size of the hoops- the teams need to get to the other side of the race without stepping outside the hoops.

My team was made up of Troy, Charlize, Ebony, Hannah and Jrae (including myself of course), we discussed that one person would move the hoop forward and the last person to move into the hoop would pass the empty hoop forward.

We put three people in each hoop while moving one forward moving to that one and repeating the train to the end in which I ended up pushed out the door, one thing the teacher noticed was the fact my team played fairly, when one of our team members fell over we restarted unlike other teams.

Social Studies Famous (or Infamous) world leaders

In Social Studies (with a mix of English) we've been instructed to create a poster about a Famous World Leader. I chose Joseph Stalin. My poster is down bellow-

What I learnt About Stalin is that he was a leader, but not for good things. If I could change anything it'd be my time management while making this.

Cup Challenge : Health

On Monday 9MA had to do a challenge, it was the same challenge as the Wednesday from the week before, what we had to do was work in the groups the teacher picked and work together to move 5 cups individually to another table. We got given 5 pieces of string, not all string had to be used but everyone had to touch the string.

What my group did was tie four pieces of string around the rubber band, each member holding the string. We pulled the string at the time time to open the rubber band to slip it onto the cup. Stop pulling the string but still holding it. We continued that 5 times until we finished.

Also my team won :) with 17 seconds.

14th May 20th May || Dirty Water - Science

DIRTY WATER

AIM: To separate the Solute from the Solvent (Dirt and Pebbles from Water and Oil)

LESSON ONE
Method:

1. Get in a group of 2-3
2. Use a 250ml beaker and fill with 200ml of water
3. Add 2 spoonfuls of dirt
4. Add 10ml oil
5. Add 1 spoonful of pebbles
6. Stir for 2 mins
7. Label a piece of paper with you team name before cleaning all your used instruments

My group was a group of 4 instead of 2-3
Steps 3,4,5 and 6 can be done in any order. In class Mr Heath had us add the dirt and pebbles mix it then add the oil and mix once more.

LESSON TWO
Method:

1. Mix the sitting dirty water for a minute.
2. Pour 100ml into a measuring cylinder and tip the excess into the garden.
3. Pour 100ml clean water into the beaker of dirty water
4. Mix for two minutes.
5. Repeat steps 3-4.

The filter system:

1. Grab the Retort stand and base, as well as two filter papers and two clamps.
2. Screw the Retort base into the base and screw the clamps onto the stand.
3. place funnels into the clamps.
4. put the cloth and filter paper into the funnels and your all set for next period.

LESSON 3

Pouring the diluted water through the filter system the beaker underneath should collect the water. For my group it came out a yellowish colour so it'd be re-filtered. Leaving the blue cloth in place while replacing the paper filter.

After filtering it a second time with two filter papers the water came out reasonably clearer, it still had the yellow hint but that was due to the filter type, whereas if it were the more professional filtration system the filtrate would be clearer and most likely clean and drinkable.

The solutes used were Pebbles and Dirt while the solvents were oil and water, the topic was what can be dissolved as how to create solutions. Our first solution was Dirty water.

Our second solution was diluted solvents. Although, if we added more dirt and stones to our method instead of more water we'd have concentrated water, and the process wouldn't be achievable.

Our last solution was almost completely clear water, part from the yellow hint, the result was the filtrated solvent. Left over solute collected in the cloth and filtration paper was binned.

Conclusion.
My conclusion is that yes, the method to make dirty water clear again did work mostly. If i were to do things differently it would be changing the cloth when doing the second filtration.
