Wananga (late blog post)

In term three we had a Mental Health awareness week. Miss Bancroft set up a few tasks each week that we had to do. At least two a week. On day one I did the 'Reconnect with someone: Find a picture of someone and share a happy memory.' With that task I featured my best friend of 5/6 years.

Home Economics : Rice Paper Rolls

In Home Economics this week we made Rice Paper Rolls! It's basically fresh spring rolls, in my opinion the Rice Paper was salty, sticky and the texture was like eating a balloon but sticky.

(I don't have preparation photos sadly)

Ingredients

Carrots

Capsicum

2 Rice paper sheet per person

Cucumber

Lettuce

Parsley

Method

  1. Dip the rice paper sheets in cold water and lay out on a clean bench top and let them soften for a minute

  2. Place your selection of fillings in the middle of the softened sheet

  3. Fold two sides of the sheet towards the middle

  4. Roll into a cylinder shape

  5. Serve immediately or refrigerate until ready to serve.

Things to remember when making these spring rolls

  • You don’t need to soak the rice paper sheets, just wet them, they will soften after a minute

  • Use predominantly vegetables and herbs as fillings

  • Try to use a combination of ingredients that balance flavour, texture and nutrients

  • You can use any combination of ingredients for filling so just use what you like and have available

Gym / PE - Gymnastics

For the past few weeks we've been doing Gymnastics in PE, using the beam, mini tramp, trampoline, horizontal and parallel bars, as well as doing things on the floor.

One challenge of mine was using the mini tramp, it wasn't easy, I managed to do a straight jump and jump full turn, I'm now able to do a Dive Roll as of Thursday (our last lesson)

My achievement was climbing to the top on the high ropes when they got out, it was fun but sort of scary.

English

 Martha example:

Martha shows hope, proof of this is

-thinks about her sister coming back
-that scott can contact her
-that scott will be her friend
-that scott would see the sign on the fence.

Scott:

Scott shows Creative, he shows that by thinking outside the box multipul times to help Martha.
He shows Perserverance, by never giving up even when things got hard.
